Graz is the ideal gateway to Styria: excursion destinations of every kind await in all directions. Head south into the vineyards of the Southern Styrian Wine Road, with wine taverns and views reminiscent of Tuscany. Head north and west and you’ll find alpine pastures, mountain lakes and the Murtal.
Things get sporty and fast-paced at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, high up in the Lachtal ski area, and relaxed at the Styrian spas. Families will love the animal parks and adventure worlds, while nature lovers can hike up Graz’s local mountain, the Schöckl.
From our houses, you can reach many destinations in 30 to 60 minutes – set off in the morning, be back in your room by evening. Thanks to self-check-in, you stay completely flexible.

Is Graz a good base for day trips?
Very much so – from Graz you can reach many destinations in 30 to 60 minutes and be comfortably back in your room by evening.
Are there day trips suitable for families?
Yes, animal parks, adventure worlds and the Schöckl offer plenty for children. In winter, the sledging runs in the Lachtal are a big draw.
Where’s the best place to stay for mountain trips?
For the mountains and the Murtal, you’re closest at the Edelweiss Lodge in the Lachtal. For the city and the south, our Graz houses are the better fit.
Do I need a car for day trips?
A car is handy for many destinations – you can park right at our houses. Some destinations are also easily reachable by public transport.
